Trying to find an understanding.
I never knew what the troops went through when going through training and making itto be that navy man, or marine, or Air Force solider. I never had any interest until my husband got invloved and I am just so impressed and so amazed by all of their hard work and dedication to our country. They are all so brave and my heroes. Lately, now that my husband has been officially asigned to a unit, I have been gettng more and more into the war and trying to find an understanding on to why it is going on , and if i support the war or not. I have been taking out many books at the library and reading them like war on terrorisms, and bush at war, and the one that i m reading right now is lets roll. That book was written by a 9-11 victim's family member. Her husband was on the united airlines flight that was headed to san fransico for business thta moring. Instead his flight took a plung into an open ground feild in PA. This lady talks about the up bringing of her family and her husbands. She talks about her struggles in life as a child to the women she is today. She had two sons the morning of 9-11 and was pregnant with a little daughter, a little girl that will never met her daddy bc of the terrorists. This lady talks about the feelings and emotions that ran through her mind that day. She went from knowing her husband was ok, to not panicing, to getting scared, to believeing her husband could be gone, to feeling a si of relief when the newscaster assured her he wasnt, to moment later, having the newscaster announce he made a mistake in his report. This lady had just got back from a beautiful vacation in Europe with her husband and two sons. They got home very late the night of 9-11 and went staright to bed. Her husband woke up early that morning to catch a flight, she decided to sleep in bc she was exhausted and so he left for work. She knew he had kissed her forehead goodbye and was on his way to catch his flight. Her taveled all the time, and on all different kinds of airlines. It was there everyday life and it was typical of him to fly a couple times a week leaving in the morning and coming home that night. It was no big deal. Well that mornig after she woke up, about little passed eight, she gota phone call from her friend that said TURN ON THE news. Just as she did, the second plane had crashed into the twin towers. Everyone knew after that, that our nation was under attack. She began to panic, but she assured herseldf that her husband wasnot on that flight. SHe just felt so sad and horrible for the rest of the families out there. Moment later, the news was interupted and another flight had crashed into the pentagon. AGain, she assured herself, that it wasnt her husbnad. When the flight crahed in PA, than she began to get scareed. She thought maybe her husband was on that flight bc she was guessing he took a united airlines flight. She began to cry.... but than the news caster came in and said this was a flight bound to Chicago and so she was so relieved. SHe never felt so much stress release from her. Thank God she cried out. However, moments later, the newscaster interupted the station again, and aplogized that he had made a mistake, that flight that crahsed in PA was bond to San Fransico, where her husband was going that morning. AGain, this lady had no idea what flight her husband was on or what airline, but at that moment, durinng that annoucment, she just knew her husband was on that flight and that he was gone and she was never going to see him again. She was left with her two sons and her unborn daughter. How heart breaking. This is just one of the many heart breaking stories from a 9-11 victim's family. SO man people experinced the worst that day. SO many people lost so many people that they loved so dearly. Our nation was under attack by the deadiest terrorrists known. What was our nationm suppose to do ? SInce than life in the US has chnaged so much. Its scary. I fly still all the time bc i have no choice, but i am always afraid for my safetly. Because of this situation , we are at war now and over 2000 of our troops have died there. Its been almost four years, and its like these terrorists are still winning because look at the death toll for us troops in Iraq. I dont know how to feel about this. Im so sad and my heart goes out to these families. Is this the right thing our nation is doing ? Being at war ? I dont know. I mean what are we suppose to do , we have to fight these terriosts off, we haveto keep them out of the US. We have to keep our children safe and out o f harms way ? What is the best way to do ? This is not going to be a war where it will eventually end in a peace treaty. This is war is going to go on and on and especially since Bush is our president. What can we do though to keep our nation safe and keep these bad people from coming into our country. Im still trying to understand how i feel and if i feel our nation is doing the right thing. I wantto read these books. I want to know whatis going on with our country and i also want to hear the views of other people and I think that it is important to sart with the people who were hit the most by 9-11.... the victim's family memebers, the loved one that were left behind. Im really enjoying this book and I m not even close to being done. I know I cant put it down and I have yet to find out how this owmen feels about the war on terrorisim. Im so eager to find out. Ill keep you posted..... At this time , I have to believe in our president and support our troops though. They need our support. What they are doing isnt easy....
